Gettysburg Description
Historical Sketch
The 41st Regiment was ordered on the morning of June 30th to march from Maryland to Gettysburg. They escorted an ammunition train and arrived the night of July 1st. The 41st was positioned at a stone fence near Cemetary Hill, they encountered heavy firing and attacks by the confederates. During this time First Lieutenant Walther was shot in the arm and was recovered. On July 5th the 41st and several regiments pursued the Confederate army into Alexandria, VA., then to Charleston, S.C.
