Native De Sotoan Had Been Ill For Several Years; Was Brother of Late Theodore Walther

Rudolph J. Walther, former De Sotoan, died at his home in Des Moines, Iowa, Sunday morning Jan. 16, at the age of 65, following an illness of several years' duration and was laid to rest in that city Jan. 18.

He was born in De Soto and was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Walther, now deceased. A sister, Mrs. Anna Mason of St. Louis, and two brothers, Herman of Des Moines, Iowa and Albert E. of this city, attended the funeral. Preceding him in death were five brothers: Joseph, Theodore, Ferdinand, John, and Edward, and an infant sister.

As a young man he was employed as clerk in the post office here during his father's term as postmaster of De Soto. He was engaged during the greater part of his life in the manufacturing business in both Davenport and Des Moines, Iowa.

Surviving him are his wife, Margaret and son Ray, and family.
