John Ruddell (sometimes Ruddle) was the progenitor of many American Ruddell's. He was born around 1695. He died in Shenandoah Valley, Virginia in May 1781. Various accounts list him as an official of sorts in his later years, mainly he was the patriarch of a family which was intertwined in the original Colonial America. He over saw a family deeply involved in the territory at the heart of the American Revolution.

John married Mary COOK, she was born around 1695 and died in Shenandoah Valley, Viriginia around 1785, she was around 90.

John Ruddell paid taxes in Chester County, PA from 1718 thru 1740. Around 1741 John and his family migrated to the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia.
