Charles H. Ruddell, son of Charles & Polly Ruddell, and brother of George Perry, Thomas and Stephen Ruddell. Charles was a farmer in Robinson, Illinois, he was born in Kentucky. Lucia J. Hamilton his wife, pictured to the left, was born in Ohio.

According to the 1860 Robinson, Illionois Census, Lucia was 8 years younger than her husband. Their son Henry P. was born in 1859. They also had atleast 3 more sons, William, Charles L. and Frederick Ruddell.
